CARV Projects Founder, Creative Director and Licensed Interior Designer
Welcome to CARV Projects! I’m Valerie Cardozo, licensed Interior Designer, founder and creative team lead at CARV Projects, and I’m thrilled to share a bit of my story and passion for design with you.
My journey began in the vibrant Caribbean, where I was surrounded by rich culture, lively art, and those serene beaches that make you want to pause and take it all in. Growing up in that environment gave me a love for creating spaces that inspire joy and connection.
From an early age, I knew design was my calling. A family friend, an Italian architect who built schools for kids in underserved areas, sparked that passion. Seeing how her work transformed communities was my “aha” moment—it showed me the true power of thoughtful design.
At 14, life threw a curveball, and I moved to Canada with my family —a change that taught me resilience and the value of hard work —lessons I carry into my work today. This pivotal moment has deeply influenced my approach to design and reinforced my commitment to turning challenges into opportunities.

With over a decade of experience, I’ve had the privilege of working on a diverse range of projects, from luxury residences to commercial spaces, collaborating with renowned companies like Crown Property Management, Allied, Cadillac Fairview, Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment, TD Bank, Holt Renfrew, and ENDY.

Background
I kicked off my formal education at Miami International University of Art & Design and later completed my Bachelor’s in Interior Design at what’s now Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). My professional journey kicked off at Gensler, where I immersed myself in high-profile commercial and retail projects. This experience was invaluable in honing my skills and deepening my understanding of design’s transformative power.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Toronto Metropolitan University and I’m NCIDQ certified. I’m also a member of ARIDO (Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario), committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional practice.
