Carpet Factory Studio
A Small, but Mighty Studio: Turning the Smallest Space Into a Creative Hub
The Carpet Factory Studio holds a special place as CARV’s very first studio—a compact yet cleverly designed 280 sq. ft. space born out of necessity at the height of the pandemic. When a sublease opportunity appeared, we seized it, envisioning a multifunctional space for focus work, small meetings, and material storage, all while incorporating a kitchenette.
PROJECT SYNOPSIS
The long, narrow layout and soaring 12' ceilings presented a unique challenge that we tackled with strategic, vertical storage solutions. We positioned our workstations by the large window at the back, maximizing natural light and comfort for three, while the opposite wall features towering 10' storage units to house our extensive material library.
In the heart of the space, we designed a custom banquette with an electric blue cushion, a nod to our brand’s signature color, paired with a custom table and surrounded by ample storage.
Adjacent to the banquette is a TV for presentations and collaboration, creating a dynamic and functional meeting area. The front area leads to a small kitchenette equipped with essentials, while our use of arches throughout the design adds a sense of rhythm and movement. The space is softened with sheer drapery for a touch of layering and privacy, creating a sense of division without closing off the area. The illuminated backdrop wallpaper behind the banquette brings an inviting glow, making it a lively and comfortable hub for the team.
